Hanoch Piven's caricature/collages have been warmly embraced by American magazines since their appearance in 1992. Ground meat, underwear, boxing gloves, bananas, chicken fat and smoked fish are a small sample of 'media' Piven utilizes to create likenesses. As fellow caricaturist Steve Brodner wrote in his introduction to Piven's collection of portraits, Faces by Hanoch Piven, 74 Portraits from Madonna to the Pope:

"His pictures fill the viewer's eye with strong graphic statements while powerful commentary, deeply ingrained in the graphics, stimulates the mind... Piven must tell a story about that face and tell it from his point of view. All the bananas, pickles, carpet tacks, and marshmallows he employs are just his means to that end."

Following the publication of Piven's first children book,The Perfect Purple Feather in Israel and in the USA, Piven has lectured and conducted workshops for children in schools and museums.

After having lived in Uruguay, Israel, and New York City, Piven (39) is currently living in Barcelona, Spain with his wife Janet Stein, children Jakub and Ana and their beloved rabbit Pinocchia.
